Academic Book

The unifying of rules within all the different faculties has been a big problem experienced by international students. How is it that international students studying Psychology, for example, are allowed to get extra time during exams, whereas international students studying Natural Sciences are not? To us, this seems unfair and illogical. Are bachelor students allowed to use dictionaries? This, also, is something that not only differs between faculties, but within departments themselves. These, and other similar issues, are things that we have started to fight for.

What exactly is ISN-R doing for you?

  • We have composed a 2-page list of questions.
  • We have asked Mr t`Hart, a member of the university ICS, to sign the cover letter accompanying these questions, which have been sent to all study advisors, study assessors and study associations of every department.
  • We have interviewed all study advisors, who were all enthusiastic about the project.
  • We are still fighting for more clarity, transparency and unity of rules. So far, some study advisors have specified whether or not specific things are allowed for international students (eg. extra time or not), whereas others have clearly stated that this needs to be personally arranged with them. The problems, issues and solutions that have come up, as well as answers to questions, were written down and are being compiled in an Academic Book.
  • The currect action: compiling all interviews, in order to be able to present the final report to the ICS by the end of the year.
